Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Guangxi Normal University Discuss Future Collaboration

On November 19, 2024, a delegation from Guangxi Normal University visited the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) to explore potential academic collaborations. The meeting was facilitated by the EU-China Higher Education Research Center and the LEAD Academic Network, highlighting the commitment of both institutions to fostering international cooperation.

Led by Prof. Sun Jieyuan, President of Guangxi Normal University, the delegation included senior academics and administrators: Prof. Ma Haunling, Dean of the Graduate School; Prof. Yu Lei, Head of the President’s Office; Prof. Zhou Chao, Dean of Political and Administrative Sciences; and Prof. Fan Wenji, Deputy Director of National Exchange Services and Vice-Dean of the College of International Culture and Education. They were warmly received by Dr. Jacqueline Couder, Director of International Relations at VUB.

Discussions centered on exchanging institutional information and identifying areas for collaboration. Proposals included joint master's programs, double-degree PhD programs, and the organization of summer schools and continuous academic exchanges. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for building a collaborative framework to strengthen academic ties and promote cross-cultural understanding.

The meeting concluded with a ceremonial exchange of souvenirs, symbolizing mutual appreciation and the beginning of a promising partnership. This engagement represents a significant step toward enhancing global academic collaboration between VUB and Guangxi Normal University.Both institutions look forward to formalizing agreements and initiating joint programs that will benefit students and faculty.
